I am a licensed massage therapist (MA 61115490) in Washington state, after completing 750 hours of training at AiCM,
and I a 200 RYT practicing in Spokane, WA.
I am also the market manager for the Millwood Farmers Market in the one-square-mile Millwood, WA located on Argonne Road and the Spokane River in the Spokane Valley, WA.
In July of 2022, I completed 95 credit hours of Thai yoga massage at Soaring Crane Massage + Acupuncture in Seattle, WA with Eric Spivack, BCTMB, EAMP, LMT, RTT. He is an excellent teacher, skilled practitioner, and kind human being. I highly recommend both his training workshops as well as his Thai massage and acupuncture treatments. I look forward to continued studies with him both in Seattle and someday in Thailand.
I am a registered Yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.
In 2019 I began the Yoga Apprentice program with Sara Teal at the Mellow Monkey Yoga studio in Millwood, WA.
After a brief pause in the world, I was able to complete the teaching project requirements for my 200-RYT training in December of 2021. The Monkey is a compassioned focused studio great for both beginners and experienced yogis.
In 2013 I received a Bachelor of Arts IDST from Eastern Washington University. It is a BYO degree that was concentrated in Addiction Studies with a Community Health focus; I like to think of it is as a degree in Change Theory. My 3.7 GPA earned me Magna Cum Laude honors for the first time on my curriculum vitae. Ten years prior to that I completed my associate degree at the Community Colleges of Spokane, after four years of classes from both SCC and SFCC. My studies included more than 90 credits in everything from philosophy to microbiology to ceramics, and even my first yoga class.
I have lived in Spokane since I was seven years old. I attended Valley Christian School, East Valley Middle School, and graduated from East Valley High School in 1997. I consider Spokane my hometown, although I was born in southern California, my maternal Irish roots are from the 1900’s and are firmly planted in the wheat grass of Oakesdale, WA, the beautiful Palouse where my family still farms today. My paternal famiglia is Sicilian and originates from Escondido, CA.
I have a love of learning and hope to someday to earn a doctorate degree and would like to teach others formally.
When I first discovered the world of wellness, I fell in love with Bastyr University located in Kenmore, WA.
If costs were not a barrier, I would have five of their degrees, but back here in reality,
I am currently enrolled in the online MPH program at EWU beginning spring session of 2024, from the comfort of my couch.
It was a happy little accident that my first day of graduate school was April 1st, the start of National Public Health Week.
Currently I am studying a 20 CEU Yin Yoga: The Functional Approach of Yoga by Paul Grilley online at pranamaya.com.
I have also started the journey into the mysterious and fascinating web of fascia in our bodies. My studies include Tom Myers’ book, Anatomy Trains: Myofascial Meridians for Manual and Movement Therapists and anatomytrains.com as well as John F. Barnes Myofascial Release. I completed Myofascial Release 1, John F. Barnes seminar in Spokane in June of 2022, 20 CEU and I look forward to attending more MFR seminars in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Illinois, South Carolina, and more.
I first learned about fascia on the yoga mat, and I was privileged to study with many great teachers while I lived for a short time in Charlotte, NC. Maude Moreno and Sybil Nance are just two of the many, you can learn and practice with them online at Maude.yoga and lovesybil.com.
The yoga mat was also a place of learning how we hold our emotions and those energies within our physical body. Yoga is a practice of holding on AND of letting go. You can learn more about this topic in the not a yoga book: The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk.
I provide a holistic client-centered approach to wellness. With mindful intentions, we focus on body awareness, health education, and bodywork with movement. My massage practice is a blend of all my learnings of Thai massage, Yoga, and conventional Massage therapy. We can include cupping, aromatherapy, fascial release, acupressure, and yoga in your sessions. I encourage stretching and yoga as at home tools for self-care. In general, I have a less is more philosophy to bodywork approach.
For me, the creation of this wellness practice was long overdue so with much excitement I began this the journey in 2019.
I look forward to developing a connected social wellness network focused on health, self-care, and community.
And with that, I close this note with the hope to join you soon on your wellness journey.
